Dear New Student,
Welcome to Oswego State! Entering OSU will be an exciting and challenging time for you. Becoming a student here will mean many changes in your life, so the office of New Student Orientation offers programs to help you make the most of your college experience. Summer Orientation is designed to assist you with the transition to college life, provide you with a time to work with an academic advisor, help you to register for your first semester courses, meet other new students, and begin to learn about your Oswego State campus and its resources.
Early registration, available only through Summer Orientation, will provide you with the best selection of classes. The number of new students at each Orientation session is limited so an academic advisor can work with you more closely. To reserve a place for an Orientation session, return your reservation form with the appropriate payment (student + parent/family fees) as soon as you receive it in the mail. A space will be reserved for you and your parents/family member at the Summer Orientation, and your Orientation date will be confirmed by mail.
Please encourage your parents or guardians to attend Orientation with you! An entire parent orientation occurs concurrently so that they can learn about the opportunities available for you. Faculty members, Student Affairs professionals, and Oswego State Student Orientation Leaders will be available to assist you and your parents throughout the two day program.
While attending Summer Orientation, you will meet with a faculty academic advisor, register for your fall '99 classes, receive your student ID, learn about campus resources and opportunities available to you, and make new friends.
Congratulations on your acceptance to Oswego State! I look forward to seeing you this summer.
Sincerely, Robin McAleese Assistant Dean of Students & Coordinator of New Student Orientation
